One of our favorite summer events is coming back to Troutdale this summer! At Movies in the Park, hosted by Troutdale Recreation, we will be screening a pair of double features at the little league field adjacent to Imagination Station in July and August. These community events are FREE and open to the public.

We will kick things off on Friday, July 28, 2023 with the coming-of-age baseball comedy The Sandlot (PG - 101 minutes) at 6:30 p.m. and the timeless fairy tale The Princess Bride (PG - 98 minutes) at 8:30 p.m. Our second double feature takes place on Friday, August 18 with The Super Mario Bros. Movie (PG - 92 minutes) at 6:00 p.m. and Top Gun: Maverick (PG-13 - 131 minutes) at 8:00 p.m. Please note the different start times for the two dates.

If you have not previously attended Movies in the Park in Troutdale, it is a special experience. Rather than needing to wait until dusk to project the films on a traditional big screen, we install a giant LED video wall. So even though there’s still daylight when the show begins, you will not have any problems enjoying the wonderfully sharp picture under the late-evening sun. The viewing area should be is fully shaded at showtime.

Of course, what’s a movie night without snacks? In addition to FREE popcorn courtesy of MUV Fitness, we will be welcoming several vendors who will be selling a variety of food options right next to the viewing area. These include pizza from Godfather's Pizza; a full menu of Mexican favorites from Lupita's Mexican Food; hot dogs, ice cream, candy, and more from East County Little League; and shaved ice from Kona Ice.

Also on hand will be a climbing wall from Rock Haven Climbing Gym, Second City Party Characters with some of your favorite characters from classic movies, plus prizes and giveaways from U.S. World Class Taekwondo and MUV Fitness. Staff from the Troutdale Library will also be there to give away books and share library resources and information about upcoming events.

The new viewing location is a fully shaded area on the little league ball field. You will want to bring a blanket or low-back camping chairs. If your chairs are a higher profile, we ask that you take a spot toward the back so everyone can see. Please leave your pets at home and remember that alcoholic beverages, smoking, and vaping are prohibited in Troutdale city parks.
