Utility Rates
Utility Rates Increase July 1, 2010
The City of Troutdale has strived to provide quality service for water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer to our citizens. The last rate increases were in 2008 for water and sanitary sewer and in 2002 for storm sewer.
Since the last fee change there have been increases in the costs of personnel, materials, services, and reimbursements to other funds. In addition, the City has drilled a new water well (#5), accepted 2 new sanitary sewer pump stations, and is complying with new state and federal mandates.
Rate increases taking effect July 1, 2010 are as follows:
Water Fees – A monthly rate increase from $2.45 to $2.55 per 1,000 gallons used is a 4.1% increase. For a residential bill based on an average of 7,000 gallons per month this would be an increase of $0.70 per month or $8.40 per year.
Sanitary Sewer Fees – A monthly rate increase from $28.25 to $29.38 (4.0%) per equivalent residential unit is proposed to meet increased costs in operations and maintenance. For an average residential customer based on 1 equivalent residential unit this would be an increase of $1.13 per month or $13.56 per year.
Storm Sewer Fees – A monthly rate increase from $1.20 to 1.30 (8.3%) per thousand square feet of impervious area is included. An average residential customer is based on 2,700 square feet. For an average residential customer based on 1 equivalent residential unit this would be an increase of $ 0.27 per month or $3.24 per year.
We will continue to find new ways to curb costs as with our energy efficiency study we are undertaking this year. It is our intent to continue to provide the best service at the lowest rate possible.
The new rates will be reflected on Customer bills received in early August for the month of July.
